We have been here in Houston, Texas for almost 12 years. Yes moved from Utah in 2005. Every spring we plan to visit bluebonnets blooms, but never got a chance to make it until yesterday. Kids are having spring break, but as they were sick with cold and cough we didn’t took them anywhere. Finally hubby told me his colleague Miss Janine told him those there were beautiful bluebonnets blooms in Brenham area. It is almost 1 and half hour drive to Brenham from our house; but we decide to go and see the blooms as kids were also ready for a long drive.
In Facebook there is group called Texas bluebonnets sighting giving details of some areas where you can see blooms as well as easy to take pictures, and also it is child friendly. These bluebonnets are grown as part of highway beautification program by Lady Bird Johnson. Even though you can see it on the sides of highways it is difficult to stop the car and take pictures safely. So we went to a church and a field where there are beautiful blooms.
First we went to First Baptist Church at Chappell Hill which came first on our way,
Barn near the church
and then there is Indian paint brush road.
Here are some pictures from our trip.
There is an yellow flower field just opposite to the church.
In fact it is a tradition in Texas to take photos sitting in the blue bonnet fields. We all really enjoyed the trip and finally got to see the bluebonnets as they are state flower of Texas.
