blackberry shrub is the perfect balance to the heat from a cayenne-chili syrup.
With a touch of citrus from fresh lime juice and tequila make

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Tequila El Destilador Reposado
  • 0.5 oz Triple sec
  • 1 oz Lime juice
  • 0.75 oz Blackberry shrub*
  • 0.25 oz Cayenne-chili syrup**
  • Cayenne- sugar- salt rim***
  • +Orange slice and blackberries for garnish
  • Garnish with orange zest - or a drizzle of citrus.
  • * Blackberry shrub:
  • ½ cup blackberries
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • ** Cayenne-chili syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • *** Cayenne-sugar-salt rim
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  • Blackberry margarita
  • Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to chill.
  • Fine-strain through a mesh strainer over fresh ice into a cayenne-chili salt-rimmed rocks glass.
  • Garnish with orange zest - or a drizzle of citrus.
  • * Blackberry shrub:
  • Combine blackberries, cane sugar and red wine vinegar in a blender, blend until everything form as smooth consistency, then strain out solids.
  • ** Cayenne-chili syrup
  • Combine sugar, water, chili powder, cayenne in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Once the desired flavor is achieved, strain out solids. Alternately, use .25 oz simple syrup, a slice of cayenne or other hot pepper, and a pinch of chili powder.
  • *** Cayenne-sugar-salt rim
  • Mix everything stick to rim after rubbing with lime wedge.
