Pomegranate Pineapple Lemon Juice: A Tasty Detox

A delicious detox juice made with pomegranate, pineapple, lemon with touch of ginger.

I like to watch Dr Oz show on T.V. as it is telecast around 3 PM every day. However on some days I am not lucky enough to sit and watch the entire show. My daughter would watches it without fail, if is TV on, while working on her I Pad. Dr Oz tries to explain everything in a simple manner, and some times I get know some scientific knowledge on the ingredients that I use in my everyday cooking. For example, Kodampuli, Gambooge which is commonly used in sea food cuisine in my home state , Kerala, India. There was a nutritionist saying that it helps in weight loss and that it is a fat buster. You need to take three tablets a day usually before any food. So I decide to stop the idea of using a quick fat buster, may be when I get some time I will try to exercise and reduce my baby fat. My hubby told me, it is not harmful to use kodampuli in our cooking; we can do that in the meantime. I thought it is a wise idea.

Then while looking at his site, I found Dr. Oz's 48-Hour Weekend Cleanse, and he mentioned it as blend free juice. This juice also contained pineapple juice bought from the store, which I did not prefer. I love to extract the juice at home starting from fresh pine apple even though it is a pain to remove the skin and eyes of pineapple. However since we love pineapple we try to buy at least one every week. During a trip to India, I saw a fruit vendor cutting the pineapple in a very artistic pattern. That led me and my mother-in-law to buy a pineapple from him. I don’t think we can match the artistic way of cutting a pineapple, but if you remove the outer covering of pineapple and separate the core, we get the juicy part.

Nowadays when we see Californian pomegranate in the store, one or two of them also goes home with us. My daughter love to eat it as such. Both dad and daughter will clean the pomegranate, and eat it along the way without sharing with me. I get a few in between if I am lucky. In Malayalam (my native language) poets usually compares lips with pomegranate, may be the color of seed is making this comparison. You will amaze to see it health benefits. It is a most powerful anti-oxidant of all fruits, has potent anti-cancer and immune supporting effects; it can help to reduce heart attacks, strokes and embolic disease. It can also Lowers cholesterol and reduce other cardiac risk factors, lower blood pressure and shown to promote reversal of atherosclerotic plaque in human studies. However, I used fresh pineapple so blend it my own and also added a piece of ginger, as I love the kick which ginger gives. I have gone for short cut for pomegranate juice, instead of peeling and juicing it, I used Pom juice. Both I and my hubby enjoyed the juice without adding sugar. However my daughter had it with sugar. It is delicious and tasty detox drink you can find.
