Delicious mango carrot apple smoothie helps to boost your immunity
While going out to pick my son from school, it was raining, and I thought it is going to rain all the way, it was not, and it was only in pockets. Yes after two blocks from my house there was no rain for ½ a block, then heavy rain till I reached his school. I was wet even after holding an umbrella. I need to pick him by 12.15 as it is private school and they begin to charge after that. Before going to his school I made this mango carrot apple smoothie as my breakfast, as is not possible to make an elaborate one most of time.
If you have been following my blog for a few years then you may know that I love smoothie and drinks, and I have about 51 recipes and the list is growing. When you get a chance to review a book about smoothies what you will do? You will grab it I guess, and yes that’s what I did." The Blender Girl Smoothies "by Tess Masters consists of 100 Gluten-Free, Vegan, and Paleo-Friendly Recipes to make delicious smoothies for your every need. It has option for detox, weight loss, boosting energy, or protect your immune system, each one has recipe for perfect smoothie.
Book consists of 4 chapters; first chapter is smoothie secrets which is sort of introduction and steps to make spectacular smoothies. According to author, each smoothie should have liquids like milk, water, green tea etc., then base such as fresh or frozen fruit, then cream like yogurt, nuts, seeds, nut butters etc. In addition to that you can add greens, boosters like chia, hemp, flax seeds, protein powder etc. Then finally you can add spices and fresh herbs to bring out the magic.
There are some interesting recipes like Rosemary melonade, the warrior, hangover helper, apple pie in a glass , Spicy mango magic, Bloody Mary might be etc. I tried strength smoothie recipe, I would love to make strawberry heat, avo-nana bread, chock-full chocolate surprise and banana bomb.
There are simple recipes along with some that requires complex ingredients like spirulina powder, Bragg liquid, goju powder and lucuma powder, maqui powder etc. However some of the ingredient is optional so you can skip them and make with whatever in your hand. Otherwise you need to make several trips to health food store.
The best thing about Blender girl’s recipes is that most of them use natural sugar from the fruit so you don’t need to add any extra sugar. Some do use stevia, maple syrup etc as sweetener. Also photographs are simple without any extra prop or add on. You can see as such how your end product is going to look.
If you are a smoothie person go for this book, with a blender you can create magic in your kitchen.
I tried strength recipe from this book, because it has immunity boosting ingredients like carrot, apple and lemon with anti-inflammatory property rich ginger and cinnamon. Along with touch of cayenne pepper it is delicious. Also this recipe doesn’t have any sweetener. However I had only one booster in hand so added that cayenne pepper. I skipped the flax seed oil and goji powder and used fresh fruit instead of frozen ones.
Here comes the recipe.
"I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review."
