Cilantro/Coriander Leaves Chutney Pinwheels/Swirls .Super bowl Snack Recipes

February 3rd is this year’s super bowl, and we (entire family) are going to the glued to the TV. Since Texans lost their journey to super bowl, we are going to support whoever plays well in the final.   Earlier I used to make some snack and tea and ask hubby who is winning. I don’t know if he got bored of me asking that question every 5 minutes, he taught me how the game is played. Now I also got hooked to the game. Still I ask will this team can win or not. He will say there is 10 or so much minutes is there and that is enough if they get bowl back and do a touchdown. With every touchdown, we will be cheering the team. Since it is between San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens, hubby also told me coaches for both team are brothers, so winners will be from the family.

I stock up a lot of things in my freezer, such as lot of French cut beans, frozen peas, Chinese potato, tender jackfruit, my daughter’s favorite ice cream, vegetable broth and puff pastry?  I love puff pastry a lot, and most of the time if I need a snack I make hand pie/ vegetable puffs with them. One time when I made peach tart, my daughter took out all the peaches and only ate puff pastry. You can think about demand of puff pastry in our house.

I was looking for a pinwheel/swirls recipe, and I found one on the box of puff pastry, which is about spinach and cheese. Then while grazing through this site I saw this peach chutney pin wheel recipe. However it is made with crescent rolls and I had only puff pastry in my hand. So when I asked my hubby, he told me he will be happy if I can make some savory version not any sweet one. Then I thought if I can incorporate my favorite Cilantro/Coriander leaves  chutney recipes that way I can use up some fresh coriander leaves/Cilantro  and also make some snack out of it. 
I wanted to make it cheesy and was successful with Parmesan cheese and freshly grated mozzarella cheese. It is really delicious appetizer you can put it together within 2 hours.  I may try variation of other chutneys, it is really tasty. So if you are looking for a party snack then this is it.
This Cilantro/Coriander leaves chutney is mildly spicy you can find recipe here. Only drawback is that since it is chutney you can slather them too much, but you will to get a decent layer. Since I was little lazy while grating the mozzarella cheese, I end up adding some little big pieces. Try to avoid this, and the best way is to buy grated cheese so that you are not going to grate your fingers. It will protect your fingers and also give a nice texture on the end product, and a more photogenic one.
Here comes my easy breezy recipe. Try it, make with your own favorite chutney, and you are going to love them.
Grab puff pastry, Cilantro/Coriander leaves Chutney and mozzarella and Parmesan cheese,

 Pre heat oven to 400F  and work on puff pastry like this

Cilantro/Coriander leaves chutney pinwheels/swirls
Thaw: 40 minutes
Prep: 20 minutes
Bake: 15 minutes
Cool: 10 minutes
Serves: 10
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
All-purpose flour
½ of a 17.3-ounce package Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets (1 sheet), thawed
How I made:
Heat the oven to 400°F.  Beat the egg and water in a small bowl with a fork.
Unfold the pastry sheet on the well floured work surface.  Brush the pastry sheet with the egg mixture.
Spread the coriander chutney evenly all over the puff pastry. To this spread mozzarella cheese first and then parmesan cheese.  
Starting at a short side, roll up like a jelly roll. Cut into about 20 (½-inch) slices.  Place the slices, cut-side down, onto 2 baking sheets.  Brush the slices with the egg mixture.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until the pastries becomes golden brown in color.  Remove the pastries from the baking sheets and let cool on wire racks for 10 minutes.
Variations:
    • Use your own favorite chutney instead of coriander chutney.

    Now, What is this talk about supporting the brothers? You got to pick a team. Think about it. When support a AFC team? When you can look at the passion in 49'ers. Come one you got to root for my home team. I am already making a list of munchies for the event, which you will see in my blog the next week. The cilantro pinwheels looks delicious. I love puff pastry too. Looking forward to the Super Bowl, but at the same time, sad that the NFL season is ending.
