Sometimes we eat junk food even though we are health freak on other times. I do that too and at if and occasionally eat Mac Donald’s French fries and cappuccino but always try to include healthy ingredients while cooking and baking. While pregnant with both my kids my carving was French fries. And maybe that is the reason my kids are a big fan of Mac Donald. I look at the ads for McCafe’ blueberry pomegranate smoothie at the entrance, every time I shop at the Wal-Mart. if possible then occasionally east Mac Donald’s French fries and cappuccino. I never overcame by fear of the sugar dose to buy them, finally to satisfy my craving I made blueberry raspberry pomegranate smoothie in my kitchen.
McCafe’ blueberry pomegranate smoothie ads say that it made with combination of blueberries and raspberries and a splash of pomegranate juice blended with ice and creamy low-fat yogurt. Inspired by this ad I created my own blueberry raspberry pomegranate smoothie with 2 % low fat yogurt. While reading the sugar amount of McCafe’ blueberry pomegranate smoothie, it about 44g sugars in 12 fl oz (small) which is little less than ¼ cup of sugar. I am not going to buy it for sure.
I get fresh sweet blueberries from Sam’s club and a packet of raspberry at a relative cheap price of $1.98. And for pomegranate juice, I got the POM pomegranate juice. I made the juice by blending all the 3 ingredients together in my blender and didn’t add any sugar. The juice was incredibly tasty and everybody at home liked it. As my blood sugars numbers + also creeping nowadays, for my princess added little sugar. It is really delicious.
All berries like blueberries, raspberries are known to improve the brain health because of their phenolic compounds including anthocyanins, a specific class of flavanoids. The flavonoids in berries activate an enzyme in the body called Enos which increases the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. It helps keep the brain active in the later part of the day, if you had a bowl of berries in morning. Read from here. Then the pomegranate which is also rich in antioxidants is known to improve the brain function read from here. Thus I made a brain power enhancing smoothie. Try it for yourself without adding sugar; if you want you can add sugar supplements, I am not a fan of it.
